Kalshi ordered to stop most operations in WA
A King County Superior Court judge has ordered prediction market platform Kalshi to cease offering most of its event-based wagers in Washington, concluding that the company's contracts violate state gambling and consumer protection laws. Following a lawsuit brought by Washington Attorney General Nick Brown, the ruling prohibits Kalshi from offering or advertising bets on major categories including sports, elections, politics, and pop culture. Kalshi, which maintains that as a federally regulated exchange it falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the CFTC, must now implement geofencing measures to block Washington residents from accessing those markets.
