The average NHL franchise is valued at $2.1 billion. The Toronto Maple Leafs carry a $4.25 billion valuation. The New York Rangers follow at $3.65 billion. The Montreal Canadiens are at $3.3 billion. The average NHL team value has increased by 17%, or $2.1 billion.

NBA to take over operation of NBA TV, ending TNT Sports’ run
TNT Sports will no longer operate NBA TV and NBA.com as of Oct. 1. NBA TV will continue to air live games next season. They had been run by TNT Sports since 2008. It is unclear whether there will be any TNT-produced content on NBA TV beyond the end of the current agreement.

There are multiple expiring television distribution agreements involving YouTube TV. Four major carriage deals ended on Sept. 30. The contracts now stand in different places. For now, NBCUniversal agreed to a temporary extension. TelevisiaUnivision and Monumental Sports Network did not reach an agreement.

Stadium talks on the cards after Rays takeover
An ownership group led by Florida-based business executive Patrick Zalupski has closed on the purchase of the Tampa Bay Rays, with the MLB franchise’s stadium situation set to be high on the agenda for the new owners. The purchase price has not been officially disclosed, but has been reported to be in the region of $1.7 billion.

Albert Pujols to interview for Angels manager job (report)
Albert Pujols is reported to be among the pool of interviewees for the Angels managerial position. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported that Pujols is believed to be Angels owner Arte Moreno's leading choice to be the team's next manager. The development comes a day after Los Angeles announced it would not pick up incumbent manager Ron Washington’s contract option for 2026, making the Angels one of eight teams with managerial vacancies for next season.

Colorado Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt has stepped down from his role. The team had its worst season in franchise history, going 43-119. Schmidt had served in his role since 2021. The organization is looking for a replacement now.
