Chiefs agree to deal to play in dome in state of Kansas in 2031
The Kansas City Chiefs will leave Arrowhead Stadium. Arrowhead Stadium has been their longtime home venue in Missouri. The team will be in a new $3 billion domed stadium that will be built across the Kansas-Missouri state line. The venue will be ready for the 2031 season.

The UFC returns on Jan. 24, 2026, at Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena. This will mark the beginning of a historic seven-year media rights agreement with Paramount. Denver Summit receives council approval for new stadium
National Women’s Soccer League team Denver Summit has received approval from the Denver City Council to move forward with its plans for a purpose-built stadium. The new stadium will be at Santa Fe Yards. It is slated to be ready for the 2028 NWSL season. It will have a capacity of 14,500 seats.

Players union gives strike notice to ECHL
The Professional Hockey Players’ Association said a strike authorization mandate was delivered last week as a result of the league’s ongoing unfair labor practices. The union said it filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board earlier this year in response to what it said was unlawful conduct, changes to to bargaining subjects and regressive negotiations.

The Year Schools Paid Their Players
In 2021, the beginning of the Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) era brought a huge change in college sports. This year, in June, the House v. NCAA settlement allowed schools to directly pay college athletes for the first time in NCAA history. This started the revenue-sharing era. All Division I schools can pay their players up to $20.5 million across the athletic department.
