College Hoops Accounts for Nearly 30% of Revenue-Sharing Payments
Men’s and women’s basketball players are accounting for nearly 29% of revenue-sharing dollars in the first year of collegiate athletics’ new financial era. Division I athletic departments are allowed to directly share up to $20.5 million of revenue with the athletes this season, on top of any NIL money they receive. Women’s sports athletes are projected to earn $417.8 million this year when combining revenue-share and NIL deals.

Former Hawks VP indicted for fraud, documents say
The former senior vice president of financial planning and analysis for the Atlanta Hawks has been charged with defrauding the team out of nearly $3.8 million. Lester Jones had access to the Hawks’ American Express card account. He used it to pay for his own vacations, a Porsche and live event tickets. Jones was released on a $10,000 bond.

Saturday Night Live pokes fun at Nashville Predators in 'Hockey PSA' skit
Saturday Night Live had a skit titled “Hockey PSA” on Nov. 1. The Nashville Predators were at the forefront of the skit. Miles Teller acted as a hockey player for the team and said, “And I’m a Predator in my community.” The wordplay is a running joke after the organization went viral in July for shirts that said “Preds in the Community” at an annual community event.

Paramount Leaps Into Live Cheer Events With Distribution Deal
Paramount has acquired distribution rights to Varsity Spirit’s Pro Cheer League. It is the world’s first professional competitive cheer league. The league will begin in January 2026. It will have four teams based in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami and San Diego. Each team is allowed 30 athletes. The season will have five events across the U.S.

Stars to host 2027 Stadium Series at home of Cowboys
The Dallas Stars will host the 2027 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at AT&T Stadium. The same will be on Feb. 20, 2027, at 8pm ET. You can watch the game on ABC. The opponent will be named at a later date. The home of the Dallas Cowboys averages 93,061 fans this season, the most in the NFL.

Liv Golf Announces Expanded 72-Hole Format For 2026 Season As Next Phase Of Growth For The League Continues
LIV Golf announced all of the 2026 events will be played over 72 holes. Competition used to be a three-day 54-hole event. Now with 72 holes, the competition will span over four days. Most events will begin on Thursdays.

Braves name Walt Weiss as new manager: Atlanta bench coach promoted to top dugout job
The Atlanta Braves named Walt Weiss the new manager of the team. Weiss replaced Brian Snitker, who retired. Weiss is 61 years old. He spent 14 seasons in the majors with the A’s, Marlins, Rockies and Braves. Weiss was part of the 1999 pennant-winning Braves. He previously was the manager for the Rockies from 2013-16. Then he spent eight seasons as the Braves’ bench coach, which is the MLB version of a top-assistant, second-in-command.

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens get another Baseball Hall of Fame shot through contemporary era committee ballot
The National Baseball Hall of Fame contemporary baseball era committee named Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Carlos Delgado, Jeff Kent, Gary Sheffield and Fernando Valenzuela to the ballot. The committee, made up of 16 members, will meet on Dec. 7 during the winter meetings to determine who may be entering the Hall in Cooperstown. A 75% vote is required for election, and if someone reaches that minimum, they will be inducted on July 26, 2026.

Ruby Whitehorn dismissed from No. 8 Lady Vols after 2nd arrest
Tennessee women’s basketball player Ruby Whitehorn has been dismissed from the team. The senior guard was stopped early Thursday by campus police who found her in possession of marijuana. She was charged with a misdemeanor simple possession/casual exchange. This was her second arrest. The first was in August. She pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors of aggravated trespassing and aggravated burglary in exchange for judicial diversion.
