The FTC Noncompete Ruling Could Change MMA As We Know It
MMA fighters could see their options and earnings grow as independent contractors. In April, the Federal Trade Commission banned noncompete clauses in contracts. Fighters will be able to immediately test the open market and engage in negotiations with competing promotions if the FTC change stands.

Sam Hauser agreed to a four-year, $45 million extension with the Boston Celtics starting the 2025-26 season. He will earn $2 million next season before his extension begins.

LeBron James is Team USA's male flag bearer at 2024 Paris Olympics
There are two flag bearers for Team USA at the Olympic Opening Ceremony, and LeBron James is one of them. James is the third basketball player to carry Team USA’s flag at the event since Sue Bird and Dawn Staley, but the first man.
“For a kid from Akron, this responsibility means everything to not only myself, but to my family, all the kids in my hometown, my teammates, fellow Olympians and so many people across the country with big aspirations,” James said. “Sports have the power to bring us all together, and I’m proud to be a part of this important moment.”

QB Jordan Love won’t be practicing with Packers with contract situation unsettled
Quarterback Jordan Love still has unsolved negotiations on a contract extension with the Green Bay Packers. He will not be practicing until they are resolved. Love’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. The Packers opened training camp with Sean Clifford and rookie seventh-round pick Michael Pratt as their only available quarterbacks.

Chiefs' President Talks Stadium Plans After Failed Vote: 'A Generational Decision'
The Kansas City Chiefs’ lease at Arrowhead Stadium expires at the end of the 2030 season. Jackson County, Missouri voters shot down a sales tax measure that would’ve enabled the team to undergo an $800 million overhaul of the building.
"We have to look at a new building,” team president Mark Donovan said. "We're open to it. We're open to a new building on the complex. We're open to a new building somewhere else. We're open to a dome or an outdoor [facility] as a new building. We're also very open to renovating GEHA Field at Arrowhead because I think it's iconic. It's something that's unique. We'd love to be able to do that.”

David Miller, former SMU men’s basketball player, is the chairman of the SMU board of trustees. He is the driving force behind the school’s entry into the ACC this season. SMU is raising $270 million to fund its athletic program for the next nine years in the ACC. They agreed to join the conference with no media rights revenue but will get ACC Bowl and NCAA Tournament payouts.
