Deep-Pocketed Dodgers Make History With Repeat World Series Title
The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first MLB repeat World Series Champions since the 1998-2000 Yankees. The Dodgers had a $416.9 million luxury-tax payroll, the largest in MLB history. They had been expected to steamroll through the season. However, the club only had 93 wins, its lowest full-season total since 2018.

NFL fines the Baltimore Ravens $100,000 over the inaccurate injury report involving Lamar Jackson
The Baltimore Ravens incorrectly listed Lamar Jackson as a full participant in practice on Oct. 24. For this, they were fined $100k. The league said the team violated the injury report policy. Baltimore said Jackson participated in the full practice but wasn’t taking starter reps, which made in limited accordion to league policy.

Sounders seek outside investment to fund potential new stadium
The Seattle Sounders FC is seeking a “strategic capital raise” that would involve significant outside investment. The new capital would help fund a potential new stadium. The Sounders retained Moelis & Co. to lead the search for additional capital. The investment would only be toward the Sounders and not the Seattle Reign. The Sounders purchased the Reign last year for $58 million.

YouTube TV pulling ESPN networks as Disney, Google fail to reach deal
ESPN networks are going dark on YouTube TV. Google and Disney couldn't come to a carriage agreement or extension before the deadline for the entire suite of Disney networks. The issue is pricing. Google seeks pricing closer to what larger carriers like Comcast and Charter have receives. Industry estimates have YouTube TV currently in around 10 million U.S. homes.

Frozen Frenzy Ratings Climb 20% Despite Scheduling Complaints
The National Hockey League’s Frozen Frenzy posted strong viewership increases. The viewership was up 20% compared to last year for its triple header coverage. All 32 teams played on Tuesday night. The Penguins-Flyers game averaged 680k viewers, up 67% from the NHL’s season-long average on ESPN last year.

Pistons edge Mavericks amid Day of the Dead color and Mexico City roar
The Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks played in-front of a sold-out crowd at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. This was the 11th consecutive year of a sellout in Mexico. Fans arrived in bright jerseys and catrina face paint to celebrate the Day of the Dead. The Pistons won 122-110.

Nationals make Blake Butera MLB's youngest manager since '72
The Nationals named 33-year-old Blake Butera as the next manager. He is the eighth manager in team history. Butera is the youngest manager in the MLB since Frank Quilici in 1972, being 33 years and 27 days old. Butera was recently the senior director of player development for the Rays.

Power Four assumes greater role in college sports oversight group
The Settlement Implementation Committee is being slimmed down to include just Power Four representatives. The Pac-12 and NCAA will not be involved with the new version of the committee. The reason for slimming the committee down was to not have the Pac-12 and NCAA as co-defendants and become a feedback arm which is functionally taking direction from the Power Four.

Auburn fires coach Hugh Freeze: Tigers end disappointing tenure after dropping to 1-5 in SEC play this season
Auburn fired football head coach Hugh Freeze. This happened the day after the Tigers fell to Kentucky 10-3. Auburn is now 1-5 in conference play. This was Freeze’s third season with the program. The Tigers will be on the search for a new coach for the third time since 2020.
