Cleveland Guardians closing pitcher Emmanuel Clase and starter Luis L. Ortiz have been indicted on charges stemming from alleged gambling misconduct. They are being charged with manipulated bet son individual pitches. Ortiz has been arrested in Boston. The Department of Justice has charged the pair with wire fraud conspiracy, honest services wire fraud conspiracy, conspiracy to influence sporting contests by bribery, and money laundering conspiracy.

Although Burnett denies, there are connections to Saudi Arabia. Sela, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, is an event partner of the league. Representatives for Sela did not respond to a request for comment.

The White House said it would be “beautiful” to name the new stadium for Washington’s NFL team after President Donald Trump. A spokesperson for the Washington Commanders told The Associated Press in a text message that the team had no comment on the report. The office of the city’s mayor, Democrat Muriel Bowser, declined comment.

Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday morning. Tagliabue served as the commissioner for 17 seasons, beginning in 1989. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor in 2020. In his role, he ensured that the Saints would move back to New Orleans after being displaced to San Antonio during the 2005 season because of Hurricane Katrina.

Big Ten Reportedly Close to Taking $2.4 Billion Capital Deal Despite Objections
The Big Ten is on the verge of completing a $2.4 billion capital investment deal with a California pension fund, whether or not USC and Michigan are on board. The 20-year $2.4 billion deal would included an extension of the conference grant of rights for another 10 years. Michigan and USC do not support the matter. Each school would receive an average of $135 million each in up-front payments.
