Gamecocks+ Honored with Emmy Nomination

Gamecocks+ is proud to announce its nomination in the 2024 Southeast Emmy Awards for the original short film, Small Town, Big Dreams: Darius Rush’s Life Calling.

The film tells the story of the Gamecock Football cornerback’s journey from Kingstree, S.C. – a town of only 3,000 – to the University of South Carolina and onto fulfilling his dream of making it to the NFL. 

Small Town, Big Dreams was selected by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Southeast chapter as one of three nominees in the category of One-Time Special. The winners will be announced at the awards gala on June 15.

The film takes viewers to “Darius Rush Day” and the celebration during the 2023 NFL Draft while hearing from the people of Kingstree, like his mom and Nana, who helped him achieve his goals and overcome unimaginable loss at a young age.
