NBC Closes In on Clayton Kershaw for MLB Studio
NBC and Clayton Kershaw are nearing a deal for the former pitcher to have a role in the network’s MLB studio coverage. Multiple sources have reported that Kershaw would be the No. 1 pick in a draft of TV talents this offseason. He spent 18 years with the Dodgers and recently retired after this past season. NBC will televise Sunday Night Baseball and Peacock will have Sunday morning baseball.

CVC’s New Sports Business Buys Into $300M Equestrian Company
CVC has a newly developed sports division. Private-equity giant CVC Capital Partners made its first acquisition with the purchase of a controlling stake in Equine Network. The deal valued the competitive horse sports organization at $300 million. Equine Network owns and operates about 40 competitions, including the World Series of Team Roping and National Team Roping.

Paramount+ got about 1 million new subscribers the day of its first UFC event, an exec told staffers
Paramount’s streaming service generated about a million new subscribers on the day of its first-ever UFC event. In August, Paramount did a deal with UFC parent TKO that will see it pay $7.7 billion to secure UFC rights in the US for seven years. Saturday was the second-largest day for sign-ups ever.

NBA’s Tap to Watch effort continues to yield results
The NBA’s Tap to Watch initiative launched before this season. It continues to yield results for the league. The effort has driven fans to more than 10 million live game streams, with nationally televised games making up 75% of that engagement. There’s been a 30% year-over-year uptick in game page visits per user per week in the app. Additionally, there’s been a 68% increase in player profile page visits per week after game pages were overhauled late last season.

JJ Redick Sounds Off on Cavaliers Elevated Court after Luka Dončić Injury
Luka Dončić suffered a lower leg injury just five minutes into the first quarter of Wednesday’s game. He returned later in the game. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers faced each other in Cleveland. Lakers head coach JJ Redick called Cleveland’s elevated court a safety hazard. Their court is elevated because Rocket Arena also hosts the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL hockey league.

League One Volleyball named Sandra Idehen as its first Commissioner of LOVB Pro. Idehen was the former senior leader at Nike and Jordan Brand. Now, she will oversee all aspects of LOVB, including league operations, long-term strategy, brand development, and the continued expansion of the league’s integrated youth-to-pro ecosystem, a model designed to support athletes at every stage of their journey.

Hall of Fame voter explains why he didn't vote for Bill Belichick, and it has nothing to do with Spygate
There are 50 Pro Football Hall of Fame voters. At least 111 of them voted against enshrining Bill Belichick. Belichick is the NFL’s all-time leader in Super Bowl titles among head coaches. Kansas City Star columnist Vahe Gregorian was one of the voters who did not support Belichick. He did not blame it on Spygate and Deflategate.

Kansas added to CBS Sports Classic: Jayhawks join Kentucky, UNC, Ohio State at Madison Square Garden in 2026
The CBS Sports Classic added Kansas to its four-team event. The tournament will take place in December at Madison Square Garden. Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State are also in the tournament. The four schools have signed a four-year agreement through 2029.
