Genius Sports launches real-time sports ad platform on X ahead of Paris 2024
Trend Genius is a new real-time sports advertising platform on X that will allow brands to capitalize on live conversations on ongoing events. Genius Sports has used experience working with the NFL, NCAA and Premier League to build the product. Trend Genius will analyze X trending topics, increase ad spending during peak conversation velocity, and slow it down during quiet periods. Trend Genius is launching just in time for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will drive lots of conversation for ads to flourish.

Buffalo Sabres avert arbitration by agreeing to sign forward Beck Malenstyn to a 2-year contract
The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Beck Malenstyn to a two-year $2.7 million contract. The team averted salary arbitration by doing this. Malenstyn was a restricted free agent and had opted for salary arbitration earlier this month.

Sports tech and gaming company StatusPro is a member of the 2024 Disney Accelerator class, and Disney invested in them. ESPN is one of the Disney departments that has been working with StatusPro to allow fans to view action literally from a player’s perspective. The company has already made the VR simulation game NFL Pro Era on Meta’s Quest platform.

Flames unveil arena plans, expect new home to help attract talent
Scotia Place is slated to open in the fall of 2027. The new events center will have a capacity for 18,400 fans and will be located two blocks north of Scotiabank Saddledome. There will also be an underground community rink with a capacity of 1,000.

Centennial Yards and Cosm to Bring Immersive Sports and Entertainment Venue to Downtown Atlanta
The Sports and Entertainment District at Centennial Yards in downtown Atlanta is expanding with 70,000 square feet of entertainment. Cosm is a leading immersive technology, media and entertainment company bringing retail and restaurant space, a hotel and the Five Points MARTA station connecting the site with the rest of the city.

ACC Commissioner: FSU, Clemson Lawsuits ‘Incredibly Harmful’
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips focused on the Florida State and Clemson lawsuits against the conference at his annual football media days address. The schools are embroiled in litigation against the ACC over the validity of the conference’s bylaws and media contracts, including the contract binding the member schools together. The goal is to figure out whether they can leave the conference early without paying nine figures in exit fees.
