Report: Federal investigators looking into more NBA games in ongoing gambling probe
Back in October, federal investigators unsealed an indictment of alleged illegal sports betting. A total of seven games were allegedly impacted. Prosecutors say they are investigating other games as well. The amount of other games and which ones have not been specified yet. Timothy McCormack was sentenced to two years in federal prison for his part in the scheme.

Chinese Sportswear Giant Eyes World Domination With $1.8B Puma Deal
Anta Sports is the largest shareholder in German sportswear giant Puma after buying a $1.8 billion stake. The Chinese company is becoming a global sports apparel powerhouse. The deal sees Anta buying a 29.06% stake in Puma from Groupe Artémis, the investment house of the Pinault family, which had owned the stake since 2018.

Main Street teams reportedly considering Victory+
Multiple NBA, NHL and MLB franchises are in emergency talks with Victory+ ahead of the potential shuttering of Main Street Sports Group. Main Street Sports Group operates FanDuel Sports Network RSNs. Main Street has until the end of this month to line up a buyer before the nine MLB franchises with which it is patterned leave for good.

Australian Open not allowing wearable technology for players
Australian Open officials are requesting players to take off their Whoop devices during matches. Whoop devices are worn around the wrist and track biometrics related to sleep, stress, recovery and more. The International Tennis Federation’s rulebook says Whoop 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and MG devices are permissible to be worn on-court as approved Player Analysis Technology products.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government has said US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at the Winter Olympics in Italy will “work exclusively in their diplomatic premises.” The presence of ICE agents among American security personnel during the upcoming Mila Cortina Winter Olympics had generated a fierce backlash in Italy amid shock at their tactics use during Trump’s immigrations crackdown in the US.

Rays stadium at Tampa’s Hillsborough College could cost $2.3 billion
The Tampa Bay Rays shared that the new cost estimate for the stadium they’re hoping to bump is $2.3 billion. This does not include surrounding development. The cost is $1 billion more than what the Rays had proposed to build a stadium in St. Petersburg two years ago.

Caitlin Clark is joining NBC’s pregame coverage for its debut of Sunday Night Basketball. She will be starting this weekend at the Los Angeles Lakers vs. New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. She will also do the pregame on March 29 when the Knicks visit the Oklahoma City Thunder.

UNM sets out University Stadium vision
The University of New Mexico released initial findings of its plan to modernize University Stadium. The plans will advance long-term development of the South Campus Sports and Entertainment District. The project has $50 million in state funding for the first phase. University Stadium is the largest event venue in the state of New Mexico, seating 37,440.
