Nate Burleson is an NFL studio analyst and co-host for CBS Morning Sports. He is set to host coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for CBS Sports and TNT Sports. Before March Madness, he will be making his college basketball hosting debut on Sunday when Ohio State and Michigan State play each other.

WNBPA counterproposal includes some concessions on revenue share, housing
The Women’s National Basketball Players’ Association submitted a counterproposal to the WNBA on Tuesday. The players’ union is now asking for an average of 27.5% of gross revenue, defined as revenue before deducting expenses, over the course of the agreement, including 25%— and less than $9.5 million salary cap— in Year 1. The previous ask was an average of 31% of gross revenue, starting at 28% in Year 1, with a roughly $10.5 million salary cap.

New York City FC sets move-in date for Etihad Park
New York City FC has announced that its first match at Etihad Park will be at the start of the 2027-28 Major League Soccer Season. The stadium had originally been due to open in time for the 2027 MLS season. It has been pushed back to allow fans to experience a full campaign, instead of moving during a transition season.

Team President and CEO of the Detroit Lions, Rod Wood, announced he will retire before the start of the 2026 NFL season. Wood will remain with the team until his successor is hired. The global search for a successor is led by Russell Reynolds Associates. Wood joined the Lions in 2015 after a three-decade career in finance and wealth management. He had a 10-year stint as the head of Ford Estates, the Ford family office.

Steve Lavin fired at San Diego: Toreros coach is out near the end of his fourth season in the WCC
College basketball announced its second coach firing in less than a week’s time. First, it was Jerome Tang who was terminated at Kansas State. Next, the University of San Diego fired Steve Lavin. Lavin was hired in 2022 after he worked as an on-air college hoops commentator. He leaves USD with a 46-79 record. The program has not made the NCAA’s since 2008 under Bill Grier.
