Adam Silver says NBA will make decision on expansion in 2026, cites Seattle and Las Vegas as possibilities
NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he will make a determination about domestic expansion next year. Silver mentioned Seattle and Las Vegas as possibilities for new teams. Seattle previously had the SuperSonics and Las Vegas has held multiple NBA events. The downside for Seattle is that the SuperSonics had to move for expansion reasons. In Las Vegas, there is an economic downturn in the city.

Robinhood is rolling out NFL parlay and prop bets on prediction markets platform
Robinhood is allowing users the ability to place what are essential parlay bets on multiple NFL games, putting it into direct competition with traditional sports books. Users are able to trade preset combinations of the outcome, totals and spreads of individual NFL games. Starting in early 2026, users will be able to create custom combos of up to 10 outcomes across NFL games.

World Cup Prize Pool Hits $727M, but Angry Fans Paying a Steeper Price
FIFA finalized its prize pool for the 2026 World Cup. It will award a record $727 million. FIFA will also distribute $1.5 million to each of the 48 teams and their Participating Member Associations to cover preparation and travel costs. Ticket costs have roughly quintupled compared to the 2022 tournament in Qatar. An estimated cost fora single fan to follow their team from the group stage through to the final is $6,900.

Netflix and Barstool Sports Strike Exclusive Video Podcast Deal
Netflix and Barstool Sport signed a multi-year partnership. Pardon My Take, The Ryen Russillo Podcast and Spittin’ Chiclets will be exclusive to Netflix in 2026. Netflix will stream new video episodes from the three shows, along with select library episodes rom each podcast. Audio versions of the podcasts will continue to be available everywhere fans already listen.

The board of Warner Bros. Discovery recommends that shareholders reject the hostile takeover bid from Paramount Skydance and its controlling shareholders, the Ellison family. This means that the Paramount offer is dead. Paramount could still return with a higher offer, but they recently said they were not raising their offer.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver addresses expanison, Cup future, and NBA Europe
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed the NBA Cup title game of the tournament may move away from Las Vegas. He mentioned moving the game to some storied college arenas. Semifinal games in the Cup will be played at No. 1 seed home sites starting next season, so the concept of a final four in Las Vegas was going to change in 2026 anyway.

There were a lot of IU eyeballs glued to screens on Saturday
The Heisman Trophy Ceremony on ABC drew its best audience since 2012. A total of 4.3 million viewers saw Fernando Mendoza win the award. This was an increase of 1.8 million viewers from last year. Next, the IU-Kentucky basketball game tipped off. That had 2.0 million viewers. It was the most-watched college basketball game on ESPN this year and the most-watched December game in five years.
