NCAA Sues DraftKings Over March Madness Trademark Infringement
The NCAA is going after sports betting giant DraftKings for using several phrases related to the NCAA Division I basketball tournaments. The NCAA filed a lawsuit against DraftKings in a federal court in Indianapolis alleging DraftKings is illegally using officially trademarked NCAA phrases in its sports betting products, including “March Madness,” “Final Four,” “Elite Eight,” and “Sweet Sixteen.” The NCAA is seeking an emergency restraining order halting DraftKings from using the phrases.

Experts see a wide data gap in women's sports science. This WNBA team owner wants to fix it
New York Liberty owner Clara Wu Tsai has a vested interest in getting the most out of female athletes. When she took over the team in 2019, she found a major gap in data and training compared to what’s available for men. She jump-started efforts to change that by funding the Human Performance Alliance five years ago, and halfway through the 10-year project, she sees a bright future. Her goals for the remainder of the 10-year project are to be able to predict injuries before they happen, individualize training and recovery, and close the data gap in women's physiology.

The order gets ahead of potential College Football Playoff expansion that could conflict with "America's Game," a standalone matchup that annually gives the service academies a national spotlight. The order directs the Secretary of Commerce and FCC chair to coordinate with the CFP committee and the NCAA, among others, with “the goal of establishing an exclusive window for the Army-Navy Game, during which no other college football game is broadcast.”
