Mark Walter Acquires Majority Stake in Los Angeles Lakers
Mark Walter finalized his acquisition of a majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers. Jeanie Buss will remain the Governor of the team and continue to oversee day-to-day team operations. Walter also holds controlling interests in the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Sparks and in Chelsea F.C.

Charles Oakley Owes MSG $642K in Legal Fees
There is a lawsuit between former Knicks player Charles Oakley and Madison Square Garden. Oakley owes MSG roughly $642,000 in attorney fees from the company’s quest to get Oakley’s deleted text messages after his 2017 ejection from the arena that prompted the lawsuit. Oakley was ejected and led away in handcuffs in 2017 during a game where he was supposedly drunk and belligerent.

Bayern Munich post record €978.3m turnover in 2024/25
Bayern Munich earned a record revenue of $1.13 billion for the 2024/25 fiscal year. This was up 2.8% from the previous year. Matchday revenue was the biggest contributor at $300.2 million. They also had sponsorship income, which totaled $276.8 million. More money was earned by outgoing player transfers ($128.6m), media income ($121.2m) and merchandise ($173.3m).

With Netflix Fight in Jeopardy, Jake Paul Has Plenty of Options for a Replacement
Jake Paul is looking for a new opponent for the Nov. 14 fight. The fight is supposed to be on Netflix, but the company is anxious about the civil suit against former opponent Gervonta Davis. Davis is accused of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress that happened in a Miami-area nightclub last week.

Allianz Arena set to host 2028 Champions League final
Allianz Arena in Munich is going to host the 2028 UEFA Champions League final. It will be the third time the 75,000-seat stadium will host the event. Declarations of interest were also put forward for the 2028 and 2029 Europa League, Conference League and Women’s Champions League finals.

At least eight people with the title of vice president or higher in business roles have left the NFL in the last six months. The league also appears to be firing on all cylinders. The reason revolves around the perceived challenges in professional advancement. The last formal promotion cycle for vice presidents to senior VPs was in September 2022.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked Vitor Pereira just weeks after he signed a new long-term contract. He was dismissed following Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Fulham .

College Football Buyouts Have Now Surpassed $1B in the CFP Era
The amount of money colleges have been spending to fire coaches has recently set a new mark. Since 2014, severance pay for FBS coaches at public universities has surpassed $1 billion. Including buyouts for head coaches and assistant coaches, the total for the past 12 fiscal years, which includes the previous calendar year’s football season, has reached $1.04 billion. A bill was proposed by the Knight Commission that would limit any athletics salary, including football coaches, to no more than 10 times a school’s tuition costs.
