NFL owners meeting analysis: 6 things to know, including rule change proposals
At the NFL’s annual owners meetings, leaders are expected to discuss several major issues, including potential rule changes, the possibility of using replacement referees if labor talks with officials fail, and broader league initiatives led by Commissioner Roger Goodell. The stalled contract negotiations with the referees’ union are a central concern, raising the risk of a repeat of the 2012 replacement-officials situation if no agreement is reached before the current deal expires. Other topics on the agenda include adjustments to kickoff rules, technology upgrades such as expanded replay support, and longer-term strategic issues like international growth and schedule changes.
