NWSL Moves to Restrict Which Brands Players Can Wear on the Field
The NWSL is introducing a new policy that requires cleat and goalkeeper glove brands to sign league “exposure agreements” in order for their logos to be visible during games, with Nike and Adidas currently the only brands that have signed on. Players sponsored by non-partner brands may be required to cover logos or face escalating fines, even as the policy’s delayed rollout has created confusion early in the 2026 season. The league and players’ association say the move could generate new revenue and higher sponsorship value for athletes, but smaller brands argue the costs to participate may be prohibitive.

WNBPA Partners with JPMorganChase to Establish Financial Education for Players
The Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) announced a multiyear partnership with JPMorgan Chase to provide league-wide financial education resources to WNBA players across all career stages. The program will deliver year-round support at key moments such as Rookie Premiere, All-Star Weekend, and the offseason, including personalized guidance on financial planning, wealth management, and business development. The partnership represents the first comprehensive financial education program available to all WNBA players and reflects growing recognition of their long-term earning potential and influence as athletes and entrepreneurs.

Fubo pursues 13 NBA teams with massive streaming deal announcement
FuboTV is pursuing a major streaming partnership with 13 NBA teams whose regional media rights were previously tied to Main Street Sports Group, aiming to help stabilize local game distribution after missed payments disrupted those deals. The proposal reportedly includes shared equity opportunities, flexible exit options, and a collaborative streaming model designed to give teams more control over how their games reach fans. The plan reflects the broader collapse of the traditional regional sports network model and the league’s shift toward direct-to-consumer streaming solutions. If completed, the arrangement could reshape how local NBA games are packaged and sold, positioning Fubo as a central player in the next phase of team-level media rights distribution.

NFL wants to meet with Chicago Bears after the draft for an update on their stadium project
The NFL’s stadium committee plans to meet with the Chicago Bears after the NFL draft to receive an update on the team’s long-running efforts to secure a new stadium, with Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Hammond, Indiana, still under consideration. Bears leadership has indicated optimism that a site decision could come by late spring or early summer, but the timeline depends heavily on unresolved Illinois legislation that would provide tax certainty for an Arlington Heights move. Any relocation or construction plan will ultimately require NFL approval, making the upcoming committee meeting a key step in determining the franchise’s future home.

NCAA to discuss five-year eligibility proposal, reports say
The NCAA is considering a proposal that would give college athletes five full years of eligibility starting at either their 19th birthday or high school graduation, whichever comes first. The change would replace the current system of four seasons of competition within a five-year window, simplifying eligibility rules and reducing reliance on redshirts and waiver-based extensions. Limited exceptions could remain for circumstances such as military service, religious missions, or maternity leave, but injury-based extensions would likely no longer apply. The proposal is still under discussion by the Division I cabinet and has not yet been approved or scheduled for a vote, meaning any rule change would still need further review before taking effect.
