L.A. Olympic organizing committee adds former House Speaker McCarthy, other GOP leaders to board
The committee for the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles added multiple people to its board who have ties to President Donald Trump. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is on the board of directors. Trump’s former chief of staff, Reince Priebus, is also a new director on LA28. Diane Hendricks has given millions to Trump’s campaigns. Ken Moelis worked with Trump in the 1990s.

Knicks star Towns pulls holy grail Yamamoto card— and auctions it for $72k
Besides Karl-Anthony Towns being a top NBA player, he has a hobby in trading cards. In September, he acquired a 1-of-1 MLB Logoman card of Yoshinobu Yamamoto out of a Topps Inception box. Towns put the card up for auction on Fanatics Collect. It went for $72k, which is the highest price for a Yamamoto card to date.

Hornets guard LaMelo Ball is open to a trade out of Charlotte. The Hornets stated they are open to trading away the former All-Star. He is in his second year of a five-year, rookie max extension, which he signed in 2023. The base amount of the contract is $203.9 million, with $168.8 million remaining over four years.

Paramount Skydance won most media rights to show UEFA Champions League in the U.K. and Germany. The auction to gain rights raised $11.53 billion. Amazon’s Prime Video, Comcast’s Sky, France’s Canal+ and Spain’s Telefónica were bidders alongside Paramount.

The 24th and final roof panel was put in place atop The Trop. The roof installation was completed ahead of schedule. Now, the contractors will work on interior repairs. The Tampa Bay Rays will play their home opener in the renovated ballpark on April 6.

The Los Angeles Lakers fired Joey and Jesse Buss. The brothers are related to their late father and Lakers patriarch, Jerry Buss. The two held scouting roles for the Lakers. After being fired, they will maintain their minority ownership with the team.
