Cowboys, Dak Prescott Agree to Record Contract Extension
Just five hours before the Dallas Cowboys’ first game of the season, Dak Prescott agreed to a four-year, $240 million deal. He is guaranteed $231 million. It averages out to about $60 million per year. This is the highest amount paid in NFL history.

Jamal Murray agreed to a four-year, $208 million contract extension to stay with the Denver Nuggets. He will receive $244 million guaranteed over the next five years. He signed a five-year, $170 million extension with Denver in 2019.

Ravens, Chiefs Draw 23-Year Ratings High In Blockbuster NFL Opener
NBC’s coverage of Kansas City’s 27-20 win averaged 28.9 million viewers. This is up 5% vs. the year-ago Lions-Chiefs opener, which had 27.5 million viewers. This was the biggest draw in the 23-year history of the league’s Thursday night opener. The audience peaked at 33 million viewers during the second quarter. The Kickoff Game stands at the 17th-most-watched U.S. broadcast of 2024.

Australia coach fired for supporting a South Korean swimmer at the Olympics
Swimming Australia has fired coach Michael Palfrey over comments made at the Paris Olympics where he said he hoped a South Korean athlete would beat Australian swimmers. Palfrey told this to South Korean television regarding Kim Woo-min competing in the 400m freestyle.

New Orleans will host the 2025 Super Bowl. The game will take place at Caesars Superdome, home of the Saints. Kendrick Lamar will be the halftime performer. The game will be on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
