The dispute centers on carriage fees, with DirecTV claiming Scripps is demanding the highest rates it has ever seen, while Scripps maintains it has been negotiating in good faith for fair compensation. The blackout is expected to disrupt access to local news, upcoming elections coverage, and major live sports events carried on network affiliates such as ABC and NBC.

PSG’s merchandise sales reach new record after Champions League win
Merchandise sales for Paris Saint-Germain surged immediately after its UEFA Champions League win, with the 12-hour total marking the highest in Fanatics history for an individual team victory outside the U.S. The club’s official online store also surpassed its prior international daily sales record by 60%, with demand peaking in the hour after the trophy presentation. During that surge, Fanatics set another record for orders per minute outside the U.S., driven largely by strong demand for the Back2Back PSG home and away jerseys.

Illinois’ Last-Minute Push for $5B Bears Stadium Runs Out of Time
A last-minute legislative push in Illinois to establish a property tax certainty framework for a new $5 billion Chicago Bears stadium failed after the state House of Representatives adjourned without taking up the bill. The restructured framework, which had just been approved by the state Senate in a pre-dawn vote, was designed to compete with Indiana's already-approved legislation offering to fund roughly 60% of a rival stadium site in Hammond. Despite the setback, Illinois lawmakers believe the newly drafted bill creates a foundational framework for future negotiations, while the Bears intend to finalize their final site evaluation between the two states by early summer.

Vikings hiring Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley as new GM
The Minnesota Vikings are hiring Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their new general manager, replacing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Teasley has spent about 13 years in Seattle’s organization, rising from a scouting intern to assistant GM after roles in pro personnel and scouting. The Vikings conducted a post-draft search after Adofo-Mensah’s January firing, with interim executive Rob Brzezinski handling duties in the meantime. Teasley’s hiring is expected to bring a more scouting-oriented leadership approach as he takes over the franchise’s top football operations role.

Big 12 becoming first Power Four conference to have all members agree to CSC participation
The Big 12 has become the first Power Four conference to have all 16 member schools agree to sign a participation pact with the College Sports Commission (CSC), an agency created to regulate name, image, and likeness (NIL) payments. By signing the 11-page document, the universities waive their rights to sue the enforcement agency while granting it broad authority to penalize programs that violate post-House settlement salary cap and player payment rules. However, the agreement will only officially take effect once all 68 Power Four schools across the country sign it, a milestone other conferences have yet to reach.
