Venu, FuboTV Both Say Judge Has Power to Kill Their Business
A federal judge declined to announce her decision on whether to grant an injunction FuboTV seeks to stop Venu Sports from launching. Venu will boast 14 channels from Disney, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery and aims to launch on Aug. 23. Fubo sued the three media giants weeks after their Feb. 6 announcement unveiling plans for the app. Fubo said the media groups refuse to license out just their sports channels to Fubo but will do so for Venu.

Vegas Cops Threaten Boycott Over NFL’s New Face ID Credential System
New technology is expanding to all 32 NFL stadiums this year which will require facial authentication checked against an existing photo of the registered person to access certain areas like the field, locker room and press box. The credential process is run by Accredit Solutions and Wicket is the facial authentication platform. Police in Las Vegas say they could boycott working Raiders games in protest of the new NFL security protocols.

NBA star Kevin Durant has become a minority shareholder of French soccer champions Paris Saint-Germain. PSG plans to use Durant to help develop the club’s brand in the US ahead of the country hosting the 2025 Fifa World Cup and 2026 World Cup.

Former Steelers WR Martavis Bryant, who hasn't played in NFL since 2018, signs with Commanders
Martavis Bryant played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2014-17 and the Raiders in 2018. Bryant was suspended for the entire 2016 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was suspended indefinitely in 2018 for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement. Bryant was signed by the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in 2023 but never played a game. On Tuesday, he signed with the Washington Commanders.

Tennessee reaches long-term deal with Knoxville-based Pilot to preserve name of Neyland Stadium
Tennessee announced a long-term deal with travel center Pilot. They will keep the name of Neyland Stadium and Shields-Watkins Field. The deal gives the Knoxville-based company prominent signage throughout the stadium, including on the playing surface. The agreement is for 20 years with the possibility of extensions.

North Carolina women’s soccer coach Anson Dorrance bids goodbye after 21 titles
Anson Dorrance began his career at North Carolina, coaching two soccer teams. He then moved to just coaching the women’s team. He led them to 21 national titles. After 45 years of coaching, Dorrance, 73, decided it was time to leave his coaching position.
