Reports: Approval of Brady’s Raiders Stake Expected
Tom Brady is “expected to be approved” as a minority owner of the Raiders at Tuesday’s NFL owners meeting in Atlanta, according to sources. The NFL's finance committee has “reviewed Brady's bid and plans to bring it to the other owners to vote.” Brady is purchasing approximately 10% of the Raiders, along with businessman Tom Wagner, from owner Mark Davis.

MLB LCS Brings Together Baseball’s Top Payrolls
Per SBJ, the Mets, Yankees and Dodgers have all made the LCS and also have baseball's top three payrolls, alongside the Guardians at No. 23. The Mets-Dodgers NLCS starts tonight on Fox at 8:15pm ET and the Yankees-Guardians ALCS begins Monday, with the Mets having the top payroll of $332M, followed by the Yankees at $311M and the Dodgers at $266M, according to MLB’s latest projections. The Guardians are at $109M.

MLB Playoff Ratings Keep Climbing on Back of Ohtani, Big Markets
As FOS’ David Rumsey writes, “The MLB playoffs are down to the final four teams, and a combination of star power and big media markets has the league primed for one of its best TV performances in years. Fox Sports is airing the Dodgers-Mets National League Championship Series, after recording the most-watched MLB division series since 2015.” 

The Dodgers-Padres game on Friday night drew more than 7 million viewers.

Skip Bayless Embarking on New Business Ventures After Leaving Fox Sports
Former FS1 personality Skip Bayless has “spent the last decade-plus as one of the most recognizable faces on ESPN and then Fox Sports,” but now he is “focused on his own grand plans,” according to Ben Strauss of the WASHINGTON POST via SBJ. Bayless, who left FS1 when his contract expired in August, wants to “create a digital network for a YouTube channel.” He's already got his weekly solo show, but he is “planning to add an interview show and a debate show.”

NFL Could Grow Int'l Slate if Regular Season Expands
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that the league “could play 16 international games every year if the regular season expands to 18 games.” Goodell said, “If we do expand our season—our regular season—to an 18-and-two structure, I see us going to 16 of those games being in international markets.” Goodell indicated that Dublin and Rio de Janeiro are “likely new host cities."

Per SBJ, the Jaguars owner Shad Khan is “optimistic” that NFL owners will vote in the team's favor on “whether or not they approve of the Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville's stadium renovation project.” Team owners are slated to vote tomorrow on the $1.4B stadium project.

Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel Has Thrived Among the Chaos of COVID, NIL, Transfer Portal and Realignment
According to the National Football Foundation via Sporting News, a record 3,568 graduates are playing college football this season. As Sporting News’ Bill Bender writes, “Gabriel is a part of that wave that was impacted by COVID-19 and given an extra year of eligibility as a result. 

“Gabriel suffered a broken collarbone in his third season with UCF in 2021. He transferred to Oklahoma and played two seasons. This year, Gabriel has put up 1,449 passing yards, 14 TDs and three interceptions. He leads the Big Ten with a 77.8% completion percentage through five games.” 

"There are all kinds of rates that are talked about with what happens when you transfer, your chance of graduating goes down," National Football Foundation CEO Steve Hatchell said.
