Sportswear Retailers Haven’t Yet Been Hit by Trump Tariffs
President Donald Trump announced a 10% tariff on all imports across the board on April 2. The stock market plunged 4.8% that day. Shares of sportswear retailers, including Adidas, Nike, and On Holdings, plunged the day after the announcement, as they manufacture the bulk of their products outside the U.S., predominantly in Asia. The apparel industry can’t raise prices without risking a hit to demand.

Grand Slam Track at risk of financial collapse
Grand Slam Track just received crucial funding. Now, the company is sending letters to its vendors, asking them to only accept 50% of their total owed monies to prevent the league from going bankrupt. All vendors must agree to the deal by Dec. 5. The Michael Johnson-owned organization owes over $10 million to vendors and athletes who competed in its inaugural year.

PWHL’s Seattle Torrent break U.S. attendance record for pro women’s hockey game
The Seattle Torrent’s home opener against the Minnesota Frost broke the record for attendance at a professional women’s hockey game in the United States. There were 16,014 fans at Climate Pledge Arena on Friday night. The previous record was 14,288 fans at a neutral-site game in Detroit last season.

Women's World Cup 2031: U.S. proposes 14 host stadiums
The United States Soccer Federation released its list of cities for the 2031 Women’s World Cup. There are 14 American sites among 20 possible venues to host the games. FIFA will formally confirm the bids at its congress on April 30. Proposed ticket prices for $35 for the cheapest seats in the opening round to $120-$600 for the final were listed in a ticket grid.

As Lane Kiffin leaves Ole Miss for LSU, Rebels name Pete Golding new head coach
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is the new head football coach for LSU. Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding will be the new permanent head coach. Golding is in his third season at the helm. LSU recently fired Brian Kelly, and athletic director Scott Woodward departed his role. LSU and the new athletic director, Verge Ausberry, offered Kiffin a seven-year $100 million deal.
