SC Holdings is Helping Companies ‘See Around the Corner’ to What’s Next in Sports
SBJ’s Chris Smith writes, “The firm initially used special purpose vehicles for its early investments before assembling a dedicated pool of capital in 2022; the firm wouldn’t comment on how much it raised, though it had targeted $600 million across two investment vehicles, per SEC filings. SC Holdings has mainly invested in profitable, growth-stage businesses and cuts checks anywhere from $10 million to $200 million. It manages total assets of around $680 million.
“SC Holdings is focused on backing what [entrepreneur Jason] Stein calls ‘format innovations,’ or the reimagining of existing sectors and business models.
“‘We’re investing in sectors that are growing, that have tailwinds and are large to begin with,’ Stein said. ‘If you can come up with a truly unique, differentiated product within those sectors that benefits customers, it’s just a matter of execution.’”
