Heckler yells 'leave Greenland alone' during anthem at NBA London game
The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic played a regular-season game in London on Sunday. Actor Vanessa Williams sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the game at London’s O2 Arena. A member of the crowd yelled “Leave Greenland alone” while she was singing. The crowd started cheering after the comment was made. President Donald Trump had threatened a 25% tariff on European countries, including the United Kingdom, if America wasn't allowed to buy Greenland.

MLS outfit Sporting KC sold for staggering $700m fee
MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City was sold at a valuation of approximately $700 million. This makes it one of the largest club sales in league history. The ownership group overseen by the Illig family agreed to sell its majority stake in the club to Peter Mallouk. Mallouk is an existing minority owner and the president and CEO of wealth management firm Creative Planning.

Polymarket drawn into Nevada’s prediction market showdown
The Nevada Gaming Control Board regulates gaming in the state. It has sued Blockratize Inc., the corporate entity behind Polymarket. It is seeking a court order barring the company from offering “unlicensed wagering” in the state. The company has also issued cease-and-desist orders to companies, including Crypto.com and Robinhood.

‘Death, Taxes, and Chinese Basketball’: Wildest Texts in The NCAA Point-Shaving Indictment
There are 26 people who allegedly conspired in a widespread point-shaving scheme. The scheme was led in part by known high-stakes gamblers Marves Fairley, Shane Hennen and Antonio Blakeney. The scheme grew to involve more than 39 players on more than 17 difference NCAA DI men’s basketball teams for fixing more than 29 games. One of Fairley’s texts read, "ln the car with the guys . . . Be ready to bet this college game that come on in two hrs. . Tulane/East Carolina.”

PWHL sets new attendance benchmark at Capital One Arena
The Professional Women’s Hockey League has set a new attendance record for a women’s ice hockey game at a US arena. There were 17,228 fans at the Montreal Victoire vs. New York Sirens game inside Washington DC’s Capital One Arena. The previous record was set on Nov. 28, 2024 with 16,014 fans. This game was also the first time the PWHL had staged an event in Washington DC.

Buffalo’s $2.2B Highmark Stadium brings modern amenities to Bills fans while keeping football first
The Buffalo Bills play at Highmark Stadium. The stadium was built for $22 million in 1973. The new stadium is being built on the other side of the street for $2.2 billion. The stadium will have a canopy, heated playing file and concourses, climate-controlled warned areas for both teams and some of Western New York’s finest premium event spaces.

The general manager position in college football has become ubiquitous. However, Indiana coach Curt Cignetti does not have a GM. He says that he is the GM and head coach. The need to GM’s started when NIL became big. GM’s usually manage the salary cap on NIL deals. This has not hindered his coaching ability since Indiana made it to the CFP National Championship.

CFP sponsor roster now includes Dell; Title game on ESPN has 40 new advertisers
Last night, Miami and Indiana faced each other in the College Football Playoff National Championship game. There are 17 official sponsors on longer-term deals, including a new brand in Dell Technologies. The game was aired on ESPN. Disney Ad Sales announced the ad space was sold out for the telecast.
