Wild Men’s Hockey Gold Medal Game Caps Huge Winter Olympics for NBC
The U.S. defeated Canada in the men’s hockey gold-medal game on Sunday. NHL players returned to the Olympics for the first time since 2014. It also marked the anniversary of the 1980 Miracle on Ice. The victory went into overtime. The win marks the most golds the United States has ever won in a single Winter Olympics. Sidney Crosby was ruled out due to an injury. In 2010, Crosby scored the golden overtime goal against the U.S. to win Canada the Olympic gold. This time, Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal.

Kraken, TEGNA announce multi-year TV extension
Ryan Schaber is the vice president of the Seattle Kraken. He is in charge of the team’s Kraken Hockey Network broadcasts. KHN was formed by the Kraken two years ago, ahead of partnering on the distribution of free broadcasts with TEGNA starting last season. This tripled the team’s audience across a five-state territory. All non-nationally televised games will continue to be shown on KONG in Seattle, with up to 20 games simulcast on the NBC-affiliate KING 5.

Hammond becomes new focus of Bears stadium efforts
The Chicago Bears have taken the most meaningful step forward in their stadium planning efforts to date. The city of Hammond has begun to identify as the location for a proposed new facility in the state of Indiana. Senate Bill 27 was an empty vehicle bill waiting for a subject matter. It turned into creating a northwest Indiana stadium authority, which would have the power to acquire and finance the construction of facilities. The Indian House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee amended the SB 27 and named Hammond as the location for the new Bears stadium.

The New York and New Jersey World Cup host committee has canceled its fan festival that has been planned to be held at Liberty State Park in New Jersey City. The committee scrapped plans for the weekslong festival that would have been held about 15 miles from MetLife Stadium.

Aaron Brooks Receives Two Year Ban For Anti-Doping Rules Violation
The US Anti-Doping Agency announced that an independent arbiter has determined that Aaron Brooks will receive a two-year suspension for “testing positive for an anabolic agent during an out-of-competition drug test on April 21, 2025.” Brooks is a four-time NCAA champion at Penn State from 2021-2024 and an Olympic bronze medalist at 86kg in men’s freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He tested positive for DHEA.
