Iran's status for World Cup is uncertain after U.S., Israel strikes, says president of soccer federation
The president of Iran’s soccer confederation, Mehdi Taj, said the country’s status for the summer’s World Cup is in doubt following this weekend’s attacks by the U.S. and Israel. FIFA has not officially commented on the status of the World Cup. Iran was selected for Group G and was scheduled to play New Zealand on June 15 and Belgium on June 21 in Los Angeles, and Egypt on June 26 in Seattle.

Trump’s Former Chief of Staff Challenges Sports Prediction Markets
Mick Mulvaney, the former White House chief of staff under President Donald Trump during his first administration, is taking a stand against sports event contracts offered by prediction-market platforms. He is now the executive director of a new coalition called Gambling is Not Investing. The coalition includes Consumer Action for a Strong Economy, Frontiers of Freedom, Hispanic Leadership Fund, Moms for America and others.

Prime Video announced a March 5 premiere date for “Full Speed: The Daytona 500.” The first two seasons debuted on Netflix, but will make the move to Prime Video, with Seasons 1 and 2 also now available on Prime Video. The Toronto Sceptres and Seattle Torrent played in front of a sold-out crowd of 17,335 fans at Climate Pledge Arena. This was the first game back for both teams after a pause in action for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Five of Toronto’s eight Olympians in the lineup got on the scoresheet.

NFLPA has finalists for executive director job, sources say
The NFL Players Association executive committee has narrowed its search for a permanent executive director. The finalists include David White, JC Tretter and Tim Pernetti. White is the interim executive director. Tretter is the former union chief of strategy officer. Pernetti is the American Conference commissioner. The union’s 32-player representative will vote on finalists at the annual NFLPA meeting in San Diego next month.

Chad Baker-Mazara no longer playing for USC: Trojans' NCAA Tournament hopes continue to fade with loss of star
USC dropped 26-year old grad student Chad Baker-Mazara. CBS Sports reached out to the school for further clarification on the nature of the split, but did not immediately hear back. Baker-Mazara took a fall with 17 minutes to go in the second half on Saturday after trying to make a block on a fast break. He did not return to action. When he reappeared after being treated in the locker room, Baker-Mazara watched the rest of the game from the baseline as opposed to the sideline bench with his teammates.
